Cannonball Adderley Birthday Celebration at The Sound Room

  • 3022 Broadway Oakland, CA, 94611 United States (map)

The Sound Room is aptly named; the focus is on the sound, or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  This is an all-ages listening room that exists to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.

Jazz Mafia’s birthday tribute series begins with a vibrant homage to the great Cannonball Adderley, a titan of the alto sax and a charismatic frontman. Alongside his brother Nat, Cannonball pioneered a unique style of soulful and explosive improvisational music in the 60s and 70s that transformed the jazz landscape. This event focuses on the dynamic, heartfelt energy and innovative spirit of the Adderley brothers, brought to life through Jazz Mafia’s interpretation of their timeless classics.

This event features

John Palowich - alto sax

Mike Olmos - trumpet

Adam Theis - trombone

Colin Hogan - piano

Joshua Thurston- Milgrom - upright bass

Henry Plumb - drums
