This five-piece powerhouse crew features conservatory trained Classical and Jazz musicians who find a common language in their passion for the music that is found in-between the lines. The unique instrumentation of cello, viola, violin, trombone, bass, vocals and percussion provides the perfect vehicle to explore the edges of the perceived musical universe.

Their union yields a provocative, precise, punk-rock personality and a highly distinguished multi-style sound which spans centuries and genres. In any given set you’ll hear diverse influences from around the world: funk, folk, hip-hop, western chamber music, jazz, and most certainly at least one 80’s rock ballad because an evening wouldn’t be complete without one!

Thriving in collaborative environments, CNS was featured at Kennedy Center in collaboration with GRAMMY-winning composer Mason Bates in 2019. Also that year they traveled to Guadalajara Mexico to perform with award winning dancers Lil Buck & Jon Boogz for an audience of 10,000 people at Despertares Mexico. Cosa Nostra Strings are regulars at esteemed Bay Area venues like SFJAZZ, where they were named young artists to look out for in 2017.
