Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra - The best Jazz Big Band on the West Coast. Marcus is writing some amazing music for the band heck em out.

Peter Rowan - A big name in the bluegrass scene who came up under Bill Monroe in the early 60s, lead a band with Dave Grisman in the late 60s then went on to do stuff with Jerry Garcia and way beyond. Lately, Jazz Mafia Trio has been backing him up on his “Reggaebilly” project.

Will Bernard - Bay Area Guitarist I first saw with Charlie Hunter’s Group TJ Kirk back in the day. Jazz Mafia Horns have recorded and appeared with Will’s Group regularly. You can hear the horns on many of the tracks on Will’s new album “Party Hats” on Palmetto Records.

Wil Blades - One of the scariest organ players in the Bay. You can usually catch Joe or Adam playing with Wil.

Eric Lindell - North Bay Born Soul/Blues singer/songwriter who has spent many years living in New Orleans and the South. A longtime co-conspirator with the Jazz Mafia, Eric has employed the services of the horns for the good part of a decade now. You can hear Adam Theis on Eric’s latest record “Change in the Weather” on Alligator Records.

Subnautic - Duo with Eric Garland on drums and Jacob Aginsky on keys with various bassists doing triphop/drumnbass

Felonious - A slammin’ live band that Shotgun frequently teams up with. Catch the Jazz Mafia horns performing with them live sometimes.

Lyrics Born - Well-known Bay Area rapper/vocalist who has gone worldwide. Often has employed the Jazz Mafia Horns live as well as in the studio. Look for the Jazz Mafia Horns on LB’s new album due out in fall 2007!

Zion I - Cutting-edge Bay Area electro-rap Duo of Zion and Amp Live. You can catch the Jazz Mafia Horns on their albums “True and Livin’” and “Heroes in the City of Dope”.

Crown City Rockers - An amazing group of musicians that have been doing live Hip-Hop in the Bay Area and Nationally for a long time. Bass player/producer Headnodic produced a great remix of Realistic Orchestra’s version of “Venus as a Boy” and look for Jazz Mafia Horns on their new record in the Winter.

Contemporary Jazz Orchestra led by Alex Budman and Todd Dickow - A San Francisco tradition for over 12 years now every Monday night at Jazz at Pearl’s in Northbeach. Many Jazz Mafia members have put their time in with the CJO including Adam, Joe, Mike Olmos, Dave Scott, Joel Behrman, Eric Crystal, Marc Bolin, Kenny Brooks etc..

Boostamonte - One of the many groups led by and featuring bay Area Trumpeteer/multi-instrumentalist Ara’s original quirky funk tunes. Featuring Adam, Joe, Joel Behrman, Colin Stetson, Eric Perney and Tim Strand.

Spencer Day Bay Area Singer-Songwriter-crooner who has been taking the town by storm. His live bands and recordings feature Jazz Mafia members Adam, Joe and many more.

Zigaboo Modeliste - In Octover of 2005 New Orleans Legendary funk drummer Zigaboo joined forces with the Jazz MAfia Horns - check it out live if you get a chance.

Vinyl - Marin-Based Funk/Latin band Vinyl has been around for a long time and still stands strong - Adam frequently guests with them at their Bay Area shows.

Yonas Media - The empire run by Ben Yonas who is responsible for recording The Shotgun Wedding Quintet’s Debut Album.

Chess Smith - one of the Bay Area’s most creative and in demand drummers. You used to be able to catch him performing around the Bay with Graham Connah, Mitch Marcus and many other bands. recently he has been sighted with Mr.Bungle.

Robert Walter organ based bogaloo funk group which regularly features Will Bernard and other badasses. Adam and Joe have had some fun jams with them in New Orleans and around the bay.

Benevento Russo DUO One of the craziest Duos on the planet - Just organ and drums, Marco and Joe have killer tunes and great arrangements as well as the perfect amount of rockin’ out and improv. The Horns did some fun playng with them in the past and hopefully will again in the future. We’ll try topost the recording one of these days.
Galactic - Everyone nows who galactic is but did you know that the JM Horns did a gig performing with Galactic who was backing up Eric Lindell? Useless trivia!

Stanton Moore - Galactic drummer/New Orleans celebrity Stanton has played with tons of the best new generation funksters. JM Horns have performed with Stanton a few times - we’ll have to post those recordings as well…

Peter Apfelbaum - This guy was one of the most well-known jazz pioneers in the Bay about 15 years ago with his “Hieroglyphics Ensemble” which featured every badass in the Bay at the time. He has since moved on to tour with the Phish guys and move to NYC. Peter recently released a NYC version of the Hieroglyphics CD that is supposed to be insane. He performed as a guest with Adam’s group with Dred Scott in 2004 and burned the place down.

Scott Amendola - One of the most consistently visible and talented drummers in the Bay Area for the past 10 years. Scott is a solid composer and businessman as well. check out any one of his dozen projects and see some happening shit:

Dred Scott - One of the most amazing musicians to ever perform in the small club scene in San Francisco in the 80s and 90s.Dred has been in New York tearing it up and occasionally visits the Bay.

John Schott - Super-creative guitar player who was part of the popular TJ Kirk band with Charlie Hunter, Will Bernard and Scott Amendola.

Tin Hat Trio - One of the MANY bands that the lovely and talented Karla Kilstedt leads and performs in which also features Ara Anderson.

Tim Barsky - Remember hearing about the guy who can beatbox and play the flute at the same time? This is that guy.

Josh Roseman - one of the most sought-after modern trombonists and one of the coolest characters. He has performed with Realistic Orchestra a few times when we are lucky enough to get him in town.

Good For Cows
- consists of Devin Hoff and Chess Smith. Got bass and drums?


Dave Macnab
- another Sonoma County native who has done well for himself as a talented guitar player. An interesting bit of trivia: Adam, Dublin Nick and joe performed at his wedding.


Trevor Dunn - One of the scariest bass players to play the Bay Area 1990s jazz club scene. Oh and also he is/was the bass player for Mr. Bungle.


Todd Sickafoose
- This guy is an amazing composer, bandleader. Todd’s upright bass tone is to die for and he has played and recorded extensively with ani Difranco.


Elliot Kavee
- One of our favorite drummers now living in NYC. elliot performed on Adam Theis “Revival Kit”.

Kneebody - Killin’ band out of LA doing Steve Coleman-esque grooves and melodic songwriting. Features members from Dakah Hip-Hop Symphony.

Paul Hanson - the best jazz bassonist on the planet bar none

Uriah Duffy - Spank the plank with bassist from Whitesnake, Lyrics Born and more! Uriah was there sitting in with Realistic all the time back in the day at Black Cat on Tuesdays.
